The conveyor is made of one or more sections. Each section is composed of a motorized pulley or of a geared motors for the motorization, a PVC belt reinforced with polyester and, finally, of many accumulation zones. Pneumatic actuators that engage or disengage in accumulation zones ensure precise control of the loads movements. Engagement of an accumulation zone is done by the contact between the belt and the rollers. Certain zones include a brake controlled by pneumatic actuators thereby procuring a precise positioning of loads.

The structure of the conveyor is made of structural C5 x 6.7 beams, this gives more resistance against lateral chocks. Furthermore, the roller supports are made of 3/8" thick steel that is laser cut for maximum precision of roller alignment. Roller supports are of the “Drop-in” / “Lift-out” type making maintenance easier by allowing easier access to the drive and control components.

The structure of the conveyor is made of structural "C" beams from C3 to C6 or "C" folded metal plate 11 gauge, depending on the desired strength required. In addition, a large array of rollers are available anywhere from Ø1", 18 gauge to the robust Ø6", 0.500” wall thickness. This allows us to offer a vast range of conveyors.

The industrial type belt is made up of a matrix (PVC, urethane, rubber, neoprene etc.) reinforced with a composite fibre (polyester, nylon, cotton etc.). For the pharmaceutical and the food industries, we can use thermoplastic belts that meet sanitary norms. The belt can be smooth, rough or with fins for inclined conveyors.

Specifications

A more compact conveyor, of less than 12" T.O.R can be manufactured with a chain drive. For example, it is often used on lifting platforms (shown below) downstream of a stacker. Other functions can be added to the conveyor, as there is more space available. Furthermore, it is possible to manufacture shorter conveyors, which is an advantage when bridging between conveyors.

Roller supports are made of steel and are laser cut for maximum alignment precision of rollers. A chain guard is installed throughout the length of the conveyor to help avoid injuries.

The chain transfer is built into the conveyor each chain of #60-3 takes the place of a roller on the conveyor. Pneumatic actuators control the height of the chains. When in the upper position, the chains move the load perpendicularly to the conveyor. When in the lower position, the rollers are what move the load on the axis of the conveyor. A 1 HP motor is used to move the load.

When compared to the pusher the chain transfer has the advantage of being able to receive a load from another conveyor as well as being able to transfer the load to another conveyor. Furthermore, as the pusher has to return in order for the load to get into position, the capacity of the chain transfer is 50% greater than that of the pusher. Chain transfer can also be used in tandem for long loads.

Gravity rollers allow manual transfer of loads. The roller transfer is integrated to the conveyor, each row of transverse rollers take the place of two rollers in the conveyor. Pneumatic actuators control the height of the rollers. When in the upper position the load can be transferred manually. When in the lower position, the conveyors rollers move the load in the axis of the conveyor.

With a width of 4 or 5', the centering device is used to center and to square the load. The mechanism is made up of two carts linked symmetrically in such a way that loads are centered once it is activated. Each cart is supplied with a pivoting head adapted to the rollers. When the carts reach the protective cardboard (often found under bundles of cardboard), the heads lift it and then pivot while centering device the load. The centering device is often used to prepare loads for the strapping unit (picture below).

A 1½ HP motor is used to move the carts. The transmission is done with a torque limiter in order to protect the mechanical parts from an overload or against possible blockage. This last transmits the power to two #60 chains to which the carts are fixed. Movement is done on rails with cam follower.

At a right angle with the conveyor, the chariot pushes the load perpendicularly to the line of conveyors. It can transfer the load onto a parallel conveyor or a perpendicularly to the line. A 1½ HP motor is used to move the chariot. The transmission is done with a torque limiter in order to protect the mechanical parts from an overload or against possible blockage. This last transmits the power to two #60 chains to which the chariot is fixed. Movement is done on rails with cam-followers.

Pushers can be used in tandem for long loads. It can also be used with a clamp in order to slide the load on a protective piece of cardboard.

Before the rotation, the cross is lifted above the rollers by pneumatic actuators therefore allowing the rotation. The cross rotation is controlled either by an operator or automatically with a pneumatic cylinder.

The rotation of the table is powered by a 1/2 or 3/4 HP motor. The power is transmitted to the table ring by a chain of #50 or #60. Angular positioning is supplied by sensors.

Placed at the end of a conveyor, a frontal fork truck entry is not motorized. Rollers are slightly inclined towards the conveyor to load or towards the lift to unload. They are placed in rows in order to allow spaces for the truck’s forks.

A side fork truck entry can be installed anywhere along the conveyor. Spaces for the forks take up the place of three rollers each leaving enough rollers to support the load.

Like the fontal fork entries, bi-directional fork entries are placed at the end of a conveyor.  Rollers are slightly inclined towards the conveyor to load or towards the lift to unload. They are positioned in three rows for frontal entry to allow two spaces for the truck’s forks and are separated in three columns for side entry.

There modules are made with 3/8" steel sheets with the exception of the fork truck entry borders which are made of 1/2" steel sheets for more sturdiness.

This system is made up of a press powered by pneumatic actuators. Therefore when a load is positioned in front of the pusher, the operator inserts a piece of cardboard into the press and activates the mechanism. The press closes up on the cardboard and the load is pushed onto it allowing a protection under the load.

The pallet robot can be made of 2 to 12 stacks of pallets. The stacks can be made up of many types of pallets of a minimum 3" X 32" X 32" up to 8" X 48" X 60". When a pallet from a given pile is requested, the robot mast moves next to the stack, the head goes down onto the top pallet and the hand grips the pallet. The head then lifts the pallet, the mast comes back over the palletizer’s conveyor, the head goes down and the hands lets go of the pallet

Using the same gripping method, the pallet robot can be used to sort pallets. Two sort modes are available, automatic and semi-automatic. The semi-automatic sort consists of manually selecting the pallets before starting to sort, the robot can then manipulate the selected pallets and create a stack and the pallets not selected into another. The automatic sort does not involve a pre-selection before sorting. The robot measures the pallets and sorts and stacks them according to size.

The length of the load is measured when going into the palletizer in order to ensure proper centering within the axis of the conveyor. Once positioned, the load is centered laterally and squared on the width of the conveyor by a hydraulic centering system. In the meantime, a pallet is prepared and centered on a chain conveyor perpendicular to the line. The charge is then lifted by forks moved by a hydraulic system while the pallet is brought under the bundle with the help of the chain conveyor.

The pallet store is offered with many configurations. The palletizer with side access has one or two pallets distributors allowing the distribution of up to two different types of pallets of predetermined sizes. The palletizer with front access has up to four pallet distributors allowing the distribution of up to four different types of pallets of predetermined sizes. As for the pallet robot, it can distribute to the palletizer up to 12 types of pallets.

Specifications

Positioned in an alley perpendicular to the conveyors, the car moves laterally to transition between out of line conveyors. Operated manually or automatically, the car is equipped with a multi-sensor security system or with laser sweeping to prevent collisions. Like the shuttle, the transfer car has the advantage of opening the central alley to pedestrians and to maintenance vehicles that require access the equipment.

A motorized transfer car is equipped with a platform for the operator and with one to four conveyors depending on your needs. A 5 to 10 HP motor us used to move the car at speeds up to 350 FPM.

Specifications

The shuttle can be manual, semi-automatic or fully automatic. The operator moves the manual shuttle. The semi-automatic shuttle is operated from a control station. The fully automatic shuttle takes the load and transfers it automatically.

The shuttle has the advantage of offering the possibility of opening the central alley to pedestrians and to maintenance vehicles that require access to the equipment. Also, a X can be used in tandem with the shuttle to rotate the load. This allows two operations to be performed by the same equipment (see picture below).

Using either a rail fixed to the floor or a guide integrated to the floor ensures the precision of the movement.
